CHANDRAKHANI PASS TREK

This trek offers some great views of Deo Tibba and the Pin Parvati Range. The story says that thousands of years ago, Jamlu (the presiding deity of Malana) was carrying a basket containing Gods of Kullu. On the top of the pass he opened the basket and a very strong wind blew the Gods all over Kullu valley. Since then the valley is known as the Valley of Gods. The trek provides an excellent insight into the traditional life of the local people, as well as an awesome view of the beautiful countryside.



Detailed itinary



Day 1



Naggar to Rumsu (2378 m)





Early morning drive to Naggar (21 km). From Naggar the trail passes the Roerich cottage and leads along the main bridle path for 1 km, before branching uphill to the village of Rumsu.



Day 2



Rumsu to Ghonikaridi (2780 m)





Today we walk 4 to 5 hours. During the trek you can see the green deep forest of deodar, pine and horse chestnut. Trek further to reach Ghonikaridi.



Day 3



Ghonikaradi to ChanderKhani Pass (3660 m)





During the trek you can see the high mountains of the Kullu Manali Valley. Today you trek above the tree line. This is a great place for photographer. There are impressive views to the north, including the Ghalpo Peaks of Lahaul- Dharamsura (6446 m) and Papsura (6451 m) and other high peaks in the upper Tosh valley. The snowcapped ranges of the Himalaya extend to the head of the Parvati Valley.



Day 4



Chanderkhanni Pass to Pulga Village (2500 m)





Today our path is totally downhill. The trek ends in an old village called Pulga.



Day 5



Pulga to Naggar (1760 m)





Trek ends here in Nagger after we drive to Manali.
